Letter to the Editor: Don’t lose hope in trying times

By BOBBY TUGBIYELE | Lowell Sun

Thinking about so many members of our community who constantly feel unsafe and terrorized by racism, by guns. By racists with guns. By lies, by incompetent leaders. By lies from incompetent leaders.

For those who continue to smile on the outside but are traumatized daily by society simply because they exist, know that your life matters and that your words and actions are sorely needed to improve systems that were created to oppress and repress.

Sometimes you may feel alone but, truly, you are not. Seek opportunities for unity. Always seek the truth. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Believe in the power of your lived experience and let the calls for change echo whether you are of one or of 100.

As was said by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “It may well be that we will have to repent in this generation, not merely for the vitriolic words of the bad people and the violent actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence and indifference of the good people who sit around and say wait on time.”
