Building the Foundation for Lowell through networking

The Foundation Mixers are a series of after work networking events for young professionals in the Lowell area.  First launched in 2011, the series returned in January 2017 after a period of inactivity.  One of the event’s co-founders Bobby Tugbiyele has taken the lead on providing an engaging space for connections to be made.

Since the relaunch, Foundation Mixers were held in a wide variety of locations including the Back Page, ALL Arts Gallery, Lowell Makes, Mandarin Asian Bistro, and the Nesmith House.  Many of the mixers featured a unique theme, such as the Arts & Culture Series and a Summer Wine Testing and also highlighted particular noteworthy individuals or endeavors.

The most recent Foundation Mixer was held on April 26th.  This “Entrepreneur Edition” was held at the headquarters of Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) in the Wannalancit Mills.  Entrepreneurship for All was launched as the Merrimack Valley Sandbox in 2011 and features a 12-week accelerator program for budding entrepreneurs.

EforAll staff also outlined the program for those who may be interesting in applying for the next Accelerator co-hort and two Accelerator graduates spoke at the mixer.

Nathan McNiff spoke about The Wandering Stage, a trailer that will be able to convert to a full stage with light and wound to take theatrical experiences to towns that do not have a brick and mortar stage of their own.

Bora Chiemruom spoke about Kravant Boutique, a Khmer speciality boutique in Lowell focused on renting, buying, and selling high end dresses.

Attendees of this event also enjoyed refreshments as well as heavy hors d’hoeuvres from delSur. delSur’s empanadas and dips are based on traditional Argentine and Chilean recipes and are handmade from local, organic and sustainable producers.

City Council Vice Chair Vesna Nuon was among those in attendance.  He praised the event for bringing people together and sparking further connections in the community.
